Beyond the Mug: A Six Nation Teaser for Our July Travel Journal
Share
The morning air in the high desert has a way of sharpening the senses. It’s quiet, cool, and smells of sage until the roaster kicks over. Here at Coppertop Coffee & Trading Co., we don't just see coffee as a caffeine delivery system. We see it as a passport.
Every bag of beans that leaves our roastery carries the soul of the soil it was grown in and the tireless determination of the people who harvested it. We’ve spent years building relationships across borders, finding the exact profiles that fit the Coppertop ethos: refined, intentional, and built to last.
Starting July 4th, we’re taking you on a journey. We’re launching a six-week Travel Journal series that dives deep into the origins of our favorite beans. But before we pack the bags and head for the trailhead, we wanted to give you a teaser of the "Six Nations" that define our lineup and the powerhouse blend that brings them all together.
The Six Nations of Coppertop
Our story isn’t written in a boardroom. It’s written on the steep slopes of the Andes, in the volcanic shadows of Central America, and across the sprawling plateaus of South America. We focus our energy on six specific origins that represent the pinnacle of hard work and flavor.
1. Mexico: The High-Altitude Hustle
Mexican coffee often gets overlooked, but not here. We source beans from regions like Chiapas and Oaxaca, where the high altitude creates a crisp, clean profile. There’s a quiet resilience in Mexican coffee: a subtle chocolatey undertone paired with a bright acidity that wakes up the palate without overstaying its welcome.

2. Peru: Spirit of the Andes
Peru is for the explorers. The coffee grown in the high-altitude forests of the Andes is as rugged as the terrain itself. It’s an endurance bean. When you drink a Peruvian single origin, you’re tasting the results of small-scale farmers who navigate treacherous paths to bring their harvest to market. It’s smooth, nutty, and consistently reliable.

3. Costa Rica: Precision and Pura Vida
In Costa Rica, coffee is a craft. The "Pura Vida" lifestyle might sound relaxed, but the agricultural standards are anything but. These beans are processed with a level of precision that matches our own roasting standards. Expect a honey-like sweetness and a complex body that demands respect.
4. Colombia: The Global Backbone
Colombia is the gold standard for a reason. It is the workhorse of the specialty coffee world. The hardworking spirit of Colombian coffee growers is legendary, and the flavor profile is the definition of "classic." It’s the coffee you want in your mug when you have a long day of manual labor ahead of you.
5. Brazil: The Giant of Flavor
Brazil doesn’t do anything small. As the world’s largest producer, they’ve mastered the art of the natural process. Brazilian beans bring a creamy mouthfeel and heavy notes of peanut and cocoa to the table. It’s the foundation of many of our favorite flavor profiles, providing the weight and depth that a lighter bean just can’t mimic.
6. Guatemala: Volcanic Strength
Guatemala rounds out our six nations with its rich, volcanic soil. The coffee here is bold. It has a smoky, spicy edge that feels right at home in a rugged environment. It’s a cup that stands up to the elements, whether you're at a workbench or a campsite.

The Workhorse: Our 6 Bean Blend
While we love a good single-origin pour-over, we know that life usually requires something more robust. Not all our coffees are single origin: and we’re proud of that. Blending is an art form. It’s about taking the best traits of those six nations and tuning them like a high-performance engine.
The Coppertop 6 Bean Blend is our ultimate tribute to these origins. It’s a meticulously crafted combination that utilizes the strengths of Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, and Guatemala.
- The Goal: A coffee that is balanced, versatile, and strong.
- The Result: A brew that works as well in a French press as it does in an espresso machine.
We call it the workhorse because it never lets you down. It’s the blend we reach for when the sun isn't up yet and there’s a mountain of work to do. It’s the liquid representation of the cTc trademark: quality you can trust, from the ground up.

Why Blending Matters
There’s a misconception that blends are used to hide lower-quality beans. At Coppertop, we flip that script. We use our highest-quality specialty beans to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
Think of a single origin like a solo instrument: beautiful, unique, and focused. A blend is the whole band. Our 6 Bean Blend takes the brightness of Costa Rica, the body of Brazil, and the spice of Guatemala to create a full-spectrum flavor profile. It provides a consistent experience every time you pop the seal on a fresh bag. For the hardworking person who needs their morning ritual to be flawless, the blend is the answer.
Cultural Connection: Exploring the Origins
We don't just buy beans; we respect the cultures that produce them. Part of the Coppertop mission is fostering a connection to the communities that make our morning fuel possible. If you’re a traveler or an adventurer, we highly recommend seeing these coffee regions for yourself.
Where to Go & What to See:
- Antigua, Guatemala: Walk the cobblestone streets and take a tour of the local coffee "fincas" (farms). The backdrop of three volcanoes isn't just for show: it's the reason the coffee tastes so good.
- Cusco and the Sacred Valley, Peru: While everyone goes to Machu Picchu, spend some time in the high-altitude markets. Look for local artisans and taste the regional coffee varieties that never make it to the big exporters.
- The Coffee Triangle (Eje Cafetero), Colombia: Visit the towns of Salento and Manizales. These areas are the heart of Colombian coffee culture. Take a jeep tour through the wax palms and talk to the farmers. Their dedication is the reason your morning cup is so consistent.

Final Thoughts
Coffee is a global effort. It’s a chain of hardworking individuals stretching across continents. At Coppertop Coffee & Trading Co., we’re just one link in that chain, responsible for the final roast and the delivery to your door. We take that responsibility seriously.
We don't cut corners. We don't settle for "good enough." We source with intention and roast with purpose.
Mark your calendars for July 4th. We’re going beyond the mug, and we want you there with us. In the meantime, brew a pot of the 6 Bean Blend, appreciate the labor that went into it, and get to work.
