A Different Kind of Fuel: Introducing the Coppertop Tea Collection for Mother’s Day

At Coppertop, coffee is still the lifeblood of the operation. It’s the high-octane fuel that gets the gears turning at 4:00 AM. It’s the smell of progress. But even in a roastery built on bold coffee, you can’t always run the engine at redline. Sometimes, you need to downshift. You need to find a different way to stay steady.

In honor of Mother’s Day we’re happy to share the introduction of tea to our limited line at Coppertop Coffee & Trading Co.

It might seem like a curveball coming from a guy who lives and breathes espresso, but hear me out. This isn't about moving away from the bean; it’s about honoring the strength and the quiet resilience of the women who keep our world spinning. Mothers, grandmothers, and the women who step up when the going gets tough: they don't just need caffeine. They need a moment of quality craft. They need something that fuels the soul as much as the body.

The Vision: Why Tea?

Coffee is still the backbone of Coppertop, but quality craft doesn’t stop at the roaster. The same standards that guide our small-batch coffee—careful selection, bold flavor, and respect for the final cup—also shaped this tea collection. The team approached tea the same way they approach everything else that carries the Coppertop name: with intention, high standards, and a refusal to settle for bland.

There’s land behind that thinking too. Jim’s grandmother Lina, from Switzerland, kept a garden full of florals and berries. His grandfather Samuel ran a small family farm, a storied Americana tradition. Family owned and family operated. The lesson was simple: what comes out of the ground depends on what’s in it. That same respect for soil, seasons, and terroir runs through good tea. The floral and fruit-infused blends in this lineup trace back to that memory—real plant character, rooted in the land, not dressed up to be something they’re not.

Tea brings a different kind of pace, but it belongs in the same conversation. It’s steady. Deliberate. Built for people who appreciate something well made. For Mother’s Day, that felt right. We wanted to offer something that reflects strength with a little more quiet to it—something refined without losing its backbone. No weak, dusty bags here. Just bold, hand-selected flavors.

The Lineup: Strength in Every Steep

We didn't just grab whatever was sitting on a shelf. We went looking for the good stuff: teas that have character, depth, and the kind of "kick" a Coppertop drinker expects. Here is the initial roster for our Mother’s Day launch:

1. The Powerhouse: Matcha

This isn't your average "café latte" powder. This is pure, vibrant, stone-ground Matcha. It’s got that earthy, raw edge that reminds me of the first thaw of spring. It provides a focused, sustained energy without the crash. For the mom who’s juggling a million things and needs her brain to stay sharp, this is the fuel.

2. The Refresher: Moroccan Mint

Sometimes you just need to clear your head. Our Moroccan Mint is sharp, cool, and incredibly refreshing. It’s like a cold breeze on a humid afternoon. It’s great hot, but if you brew it strong and pour it over ice, it’s a game-changer.

3. The Classic: Earl Grey

We took the standard Earl Grey and dialed it up. Bold black tea leaves infused with high-grade bergamot oil. It’s citrusy, floral, and strong enough to stand on its own or take a splash of cream. It’s sophisticated but tough.

4. The Bright One: Hibiscus Berry Tea

A tart, vibrant blend of real dried fruits and botanicals. It’s got color, bite, and the kind of full flavor that keeps things interesting from first sip to last.

5. The Heavy Hitter: Mango Treat

A tropical, bold flavor that packs a punch of natural sweetness. It drinks smooth, but it doesn’t disappear into the background.

6. The Workhorse: English Breakfast

The reliable workhorse; a robust black tea for those who need a strong start. Straightforward, sturdy, and built for the morning shift.

7. The Firestarter: Masala Chai

A spicy, warming blend that hits with character and depth. Strong enough to stand on its own and even better when you want something with a little backbone.

Hand-Selected and Built to Last

Everything we do at Coppertop Coffee & Trading Co. is built on the idea of craft. If it’s not quality, it doesn't get the logo. We applied that same logic to this tea collection.

🌿 Hand-selected leaves: We sourced these from growers who actually care about the plant.
🔥 Bold flavor: We aren't interested in subtle "hints." We want flavor that announces itself.
🚚 Free US Shipping: As always, we’ll get it to your door without the extra baggage.

When you buy a bag of our coffee, you’re buying a product that’s been through the ringer and come out the other side. These teas are no different. They are meant for people who appreciate the work that goes into a finished product.

Tea-Tips

Keep it simple. Good leaf. Good water. Give it the right amount of time.

  • Matcha: 175°F water — whisk 1-2 teaspoons — no steep
  • Moroccan Mint: 205°F water — steep 5-7 min
  • Earl Grey: 205°F water — steep 3-5 min
  • Hibiscus Berry Tea: 205°F water — steep 5-7 min
  • Mango Treat: 205°F water — steep 5-7 min
  • English Breakfast: 205°F water — steep 3-5 min
  • Masala Chai: 205°F water — steep 5-7 min

Tea with Lina

Farm-style, straight from the old way of doing things: start with a solid cup, then dress it up without burying the tea.

  • Add a few fresh edible petals or clean garden leaves if they fit the cup. Mint, lemon balm, or a light floral touch. Nothing fussy.
  • Drop in a handful of local berries for fruit teas or iced tea. Let the juice work into the cup and bring a little field sweetness with it.
  • Finish with a spoon of honey if the blend needs softening. Just enough to round the edges, not cover the ground it came from.

The Perfect Mother’s Day Kit

If you’re looking to give the mom in your life something better than a grocery store bouquet that’ll be dead by Tuesday, think about a pairing. A bag of our Earl Grey or Masala Chai paired with one of our mugs makes for a gift that actually gets used.

Our enamel mugs are built for the field and the kitchen table alike. They’re rugged enough to survive a drop and classic enough to look good anywhere. Throw in a bag of tea and maybe a hoodie for those chilly spring mornings, and you’ve got a kit that says you actually put some thought into it.

Staying Grounded

At Coppertop, staying grounded means holding the line on quality and remembering where good flavor starts: in the land. Soil matters. Climate matters. Terroir matters. Coffee taught us that early, and tea proves it again. The best cups carry a sense of place, and that’s part of what gave this collection its footing.

That idea also runs back through family ground. Lina’s garden, full of florals and berries, and Samuel’s small family farm, a storied Americana tradition. Family owned and family operated. Both point to the same truth: good things come from paying attention to what grows, how it grows, and what season you’re in. Mother’s Day makes that message hit home. This collection is a way to honor the women who carry a lot, give a lot, and rarely ask for much in return. A different kind of fuel for a different kind of strength. Something steady, flavorful, and made with care.

Whether she’s a coffee drinker who needs a break or a tea purist who’s been waiting for us to catch up, we think she’s going to find something here that resonates.

Get It Before the Deadline

Mother’s Day is coming up fast. If you want to make sure your gift arrives in time to be brewed on Sunday morning, don't wait.

We’re proud of this new direction. It’s a small addition to the Coppertop family, but it’s one that feels right. It’s about balance. It’s about recognizing that being "tough" doesn't always mean moving at a hundred miles an hour. Sometimes, the toughest thing you can do is hold your ground and enjoy a quiet moment of quality.

Thanks for being part of the journey. Now, go get something nice for your mom. She’s earned it.
